Best Air Purifier and Dehumidifier

Afloia Q10 True HEPA Air Purifier

  • Moisture removal capacity: Purifier 200 sq.ft / Dehumidifier 215 sq.ft
  • Filter Type: HEPA filter

If you’re looking to purify and dehumidify a small room, the Alofia Q10 is a solid choice.

What I like

My favorite feature of this air purifier combo is that you’ll be able to purify the air with its H13 HEPA filter. It’s quoted to trap 99.97% of finer particles as small as .1 microns and larger particles like dust, smoke, and pet dander. If you have allergies, it may make sense to look into whole house air filters with high MERV ratings of around 14-15.

It looks sleek and will fit in with your decor with ease. It has 3 fan speed modes to choose from, auto shut off, one button start and a filter and tank change reminders. The tank has a capacity of 34oz and can remove 750ML of water per day.

This unit has quiet operation of between 25-45DB. Even on the louder side, it’s still as quiet as a library. Perfect for anyone who has issues going to sleep but also needs a reliable dehumidifier air purifier combo.

It’ss energy efficient too, with 45W of low energy consumption. You don’t have to use both the air purifier or the dehumidifier, you can decide to use just one depending on your needs. To top it all off, you get a one year warranty as well as 24/7 support should anything go wrong.

What I don’t like

The unit doesn’t offer a reusable air filter, but it will be difficult to enjoy a HEPA filter if you don’t replace it every 3 months or so. This air purifier combo is only rated for smaller rooms up to 200 square feet, so you may want to look into larger units or a standalone air purifier to get the job done. This product also lacks a remote which can be annoying.

Why I recommend this product

This product is inexpensive when compared to standalone air purifiers and dehumidifiers. You can decide to use the purifier or dehumidifier interchangeably and it has all the features you would expect from more expensive options.

If you’re looking to purify and dehumidify a smaller room, then this is a great option to consider. If you’re working with a larger room, it may make sense to look into a standalone air purifier like the Coway Airmega AP-1512HH(W).

Also Great Air Purifier and Dehumidifier Combo

Afloia Air Purifiers and Dehumidifier in One

  • Moisture removal capacity: 215 sq.ft
  • Filter Type: HEPA filter

This dehumidifier air purifier combo is going to help purify and dehumidify the air in your home with ease.

What I like

I like that the true HEPA filter is super easy to remove. The side has a panel that you pull out and you’ll have easy access to your filter. You can purchase additional HEPA filters so that in around three months, you won’t need to scramble to replace them.

The bottom has a removable water tank that holds up to 1000ml. You’ll have to replace the tank around every other day, but with its automatic shut-off feature, you won’t have to worry about it overfilling. You’ll also be reminded with its LED indicator which will light up when the tank is nearing capacity.

This unit is rated to dehumidify a space of 215 sq ft and it can purify a space up to 161 sq ft. Perfect for your home office, children’s room, or nursery. This unit doesn’t have a compressor either which means that it runs much quieter with fewer moving parts at around 38-45dB.

This dehumidifier air purifier combo also uses 45W low energy consumption, is eco-friendly and 100% ozone free. Ozone can be harmful and you want to make sure that you aren’t putting you or your loved ones in danger when inside your room.

What I don’t like

While this is one of the best air purifier and dehumidifier all in one combos I could find, it’s not going to do as well as standalone units like the Coway Airmega AP-1512HH and Midea 1,500 Sq. Ft. Energy Star Certified Dehumidifier combo.

The water filter also needs to be replaced every other day which can be bothersome.

Why I recommend this product

This air purifier and dehumidifier combo is great for smaller rooms at around 200 square feet. You’ll have easy access to the true HEPA filter and you can buy replacements for when your filter needs replacing

Compared to the other air purifier/dehumidifier combos, this unit offers the same features while having an easy to reach HEPA filter that’s replaceable.

Best Budget Air Purifier and Dehumidifier Combo

Tenergy Sorbi 1000ml Air Dehumidifier

  • Moisture removal capacity: 200 sq.ft
  • Filter Type: HEPA filter

If you’re on a budget, you can still enjoy this budget air purifier and dehumidifier combo!

What I like

What I like most is that for its price, it still has all the comparable features of more expensive options. It’ll remove excess moisture, improve your indoor air quality and bring fresh air into your environment.

This unit only weighs 7 lbs, so if you’re wanting to move it from room to room, you’ll have no issue doing so. The LED indicator will let you know when it’s time to replace the filter as well as empty the tank. The tank is 1 liter and the unit can remove up to 750ml per day, which is as much as the Afloia Q10.

Just like the winner of best dehumidifier air purifier, this unit is also rated for low noise levels. Perfect for anyone who has issues going to sleep. The true HEPA filter will help this air purifier with its air-purifying function by removing up to 99.97% of particulates in the air.

TENERGY also offers a longer warranty than the first option, of up to 2 years as long as you extend your warranty by registering your unit. You’ll not only save money with this option, but you will be able to take it from room to room without any issue.

What I don’t like

This unit doesn’t come with a remote, which seems to be commonplace with dehumidifier air purifier combos.

Why I recommend this product

This budget air purifier/dehumidifier has all of the features of the winner of this list. You can dehumidify and purify a space of up to 200 square feet, it has a 2 year warranty and it has comparable air purifying and dehumidifying functions like the Afloia Q10 took first.

If you’re looking to save some money but are ok with not having a remote control, this is a great option to look into.

Best Alternative Option #1

Midea 1,500 Sq. Ft. Energy Star Certified Dehumidifier

  • Moisture removal capacity: 1500 square feet
  • Filter Type: Washable filter

While this isn’t a dehumidifier and air purifier, it will dehumidify any space much better than any combo ever could.

What I like

Standalone units are going to excel at their jobs. While air purifier dehumidifier combos can be convenient, they aren’t going to be the best at dehumidifying or even air cleaning. That’s why I’m recommending this beast of a standalone unit rated for up to 1500 square feet.

If you’re in a moist environment, this unit can remove up to 22 pints per day. You can adjust the humidity levels in your room from 35-85%, which the air purifier combos can’t offer given their price tag.

This unit is energy-star certified and is quieter than a refrigerator. Depending on how you want to set it up, a no-fuss option would be to utilize its continuous draining mode. That way, you won’t need to worry about dumping out the tank every day, it’ll do that for you.

This MIDEA dehumidifier is also sleek and will fit in with any room’s aesthetic. All you need to do is change out the filter every now and then and remove the tank once it’s filled up. The wheels on the bottom make it super easy to move around your home as well.

You’ll also be able to enjoy tons of features like a timer, handle to remove the water tank, auto-shutoff and auto defrost if you deal with colder temperatures. They offer a 1 year warranty if you have any issues with your dehumidifier.

What I don’t like

This option doesn’t have air purifying technology so you’ll only be able to use its dehumidifying functions. It also doesn’t have a remote.

Why I recommend this product

Compared to even the best air purifier and dehumidifier all in one combo, this dehumidifier blows them out of the water. It has a continuous drain option, it’s energy star certified, it can remove up to 22 pints of water and it has a warranty attached. You won’t be able to say any of that for any dehumidifer/air purifier combo on the market.

I would recommend looking into standalone units so you can enjoy the best of both worlds. This combined with the Coway Airmega AP-1512HH air purifier will do a much better job of cleaning the surrounding air inside your home.

Best Alternative Option #2

Coway Airmega AP-1512HH(W) True HEPA Purifier with Air Quality Monitoring

  • Capacity: 361 square feet
  • Filter Type: HEPA filtration system

This sleek air purifier will do a much better job than any dehumidifier air purifier combo.

What I like

I love that this unit has a great aesthetic that won’t look like an eye sore anywhere you put it. It relies on a true HEPA filter which can remove any particles 0.3 microns at a rate of 99.97%. With its 4 stage filtration system, you’ll be able to enjoy fresh air all year round.

The front panel gives you all the features you need from speed, ionizer, timer and it even has a unique air quality light that will let you know how clean or dirty the air inside your room is. You’ll easily be able to see if this air purifier is working in real time!

What’s great about this system is that it detects the air quality, and if it senses there isn’t any pollution for 30 minutes, it will stop the fan and turn on ECO mode to save you energy. It only uses 77W of power and it has a noise level up to 53 dB, which is quieter than a conversation.

Reviewers mention that they replaced older units that were noisy, and in doing so, they were able to enjoy from quiet operation. This unit was also featured on Wirecutter as Best Air Purifier for 2022! Hard to go wrong with this option for sure.

What I don’t like

One downside of this unit is that it doesn’t offer dehumidifying functions. While that may be true, it’ll purify the air much better than any air purifier combo out there.

Why I recommend this product

This is one of the highest regarded air purifiers out there. With its efficient true HEPA filtration, filter indicator, eco, and auto mode as well as fan speed settings, you’ll be able to purify the air much better than any combo on the market.

If you combine this unit with the Midea 1,500, you’ll have a nearly unbeatable air purifier/dehumidifier combo that will best any air purifier combo unit you can find.

What to Look for in an Air Purification and Dehumidifier Combo?

HEPA Filter

When looking for an air purifier and dehumidifier combo, it’s important to find one that uses a HEPA filter. HEPA filters are highly efficient with their particulate absorbing filters and are a standard of air filtering capacity.

To be considered as HEPA filters, they must be able to filter out 99.5% of particulates in the air. That means, that only the finest of particles will get through your HEPA filter and will keep your space fresh as can be.

It’s also a good idea to look for replacement filters before you buy, as some can be difficult to come by. You don’t want to be in a position where you can’t find any replacements as your device needs a clean filter every 3 months or so.

Capacity

Depending on the size of your room, you want it to be able to filter and dehumidify your space. If you don’t, your unit will have to work extra hard and will eventually burn out the components within. Not to mention, it won’t be effective any longer.

Moisture removal capacity

Most of the air purifiers and dehumidifier options out there aren’t large. If you have a space that requires more than 1L of moisture removal capacity, you should look into a standalone dehumidifier option rather than a combo. That way, you’ll be able to enjoy the best of both worlds rather than compromise of both.

Quiet operation

Air purifiers and dehumidifiers are unique in that they don’t use compressors. That means they generate less heat and make less noise. If you are a light sleeper or you’re putting it in a child’s room, then you’ll want to ensure that your dehumidifier air purifier combo stays quiet for better rest.

Construction

Fit and finish are important as you’ll be servicing the internal filters quite often and don’t want it to be flimsy and fall apart on you. There is a water tank involved as well that you’ll need to empty and it’s vital that leaking doesn’t occur and damage the internal components.

Air Purification and Dehumidifier Combo FAQ

How do Air purifiers and Dehumidifiers work?

Air purifier

Air purifiers circulate the air inside of your room through a filter that traps any particulates that may otherwise reak havoc on your breathing.

They’re great at filtering out most of the particles in your space, but some of them by remaining on areas that they stick to like walls or furniture. Some of the more advanced air purifiers can remove pollutants that are as small as 2.5 microns. They do this by using ultraviolet filters that can destroy mold and bacteria.

Dehumidifier

A dehumidifier works by reducing the humidity in your room to below 50%. Most dehumidifiers work either by refrigeration or by absorption/absorption. Refrigeration type dehumidifiers take in warm air through a grille on the side of the machine. The fan then draws the air inside, and the warm air passes through the cold coils.

Dehumidifiers are similar to a mini-air conditioners in how they operate. Once the air runs through the coils, it goes through the hot compressor and brings the air back up to temperature. Warm air then goes back to your room and the moisture that was collected drips down into the collecting tray.

Others use the absorption/absorption method which draws in air through a duct, then moves that air through a large rotating wheel made of water absorbing material. Then the air is drawn in by a motor and dry air is blown back out into where it’s been taken from. There is an air duct underneath that is kept hot and then the wheel goes through the heated air space and is dried. The air is then sucked in by a fan and out through the exhaust dust, dehumidifying the space.

What is the difference between an air purifier and a dehumidifier?

An air purifier circulates air through a filter that removes particulates in the air. A dehumidifier removes humidity in your environment by either passing air through refrigerated coils or by the absorption/absorption method.

Wrapping it Up

One of the best air purifier and dehumidifier all in one combos I found was Afloia Q10. It’s not too expensive and will be suitable for rooms up to 200 square feet. If you’re on a budget, then you may want to look into Tenergy Sorbi which is a bit cheaper but with a lot of similar features.

Overall, I would recommend avoiding dehumidifier air purifier combos and going with standalone units that will outperform any combo on the market. For that, I can recommend Coway Airmega AP-1512HH(W)and Midea 1,500 Sq. Ft. Energy Star Certified Dehumidifier. Both items will vastly outperform any of the combos that I came across.
